When it comes to fending off bullets, both Superman and armored cars can do their job very well. Superman has his incredible powers because he comes from the planet Krypton. Armored cars unfortunately cannot leap over a building in a single bound, but they can protect the people inside from armor-piercing bullets if shot at the vehicle. We all accept that Superman has a special suit that makes him impervious to bullets. When it comes to armored cars, there are many steps that need to be taken to assure the occupants inside the armored cars are safe from this type of assault.

There are many levels of protection that can be installed on armored cars.. You might have a CIT truck ( Cash in Transit) that only picks up a minimal amount of cash, coins or checks and is considered a low risk route. This type of vehicle might be armored for hand guns only. A Brinks armored truck that could be picking up gold bullion or large amounts of cash will be heavily armored to Level IV or B7 which is the highest protection available which will protect against hand grenades, armor-piercing bullets, and I.E.D.’s. The levels of protection start at Level I, or B1 and go right up the line increasing in protection based on the threat levels you may encounter. The US uses Levels as tested by the N.I.J. ( National Institute of Justice). The European standard uses B1, B2, etc. for their degrees of protection

There are certain vehicles when seen, you will know immediately that they must be an armored vehicle, but there are also other vehicles driving around that are heavily armored but look just like the average car you can buy at your local dealership. Just like Clark Kent, as he goes to work in his suit and tie, he looks like an average guy, but underneath the normal everyday attire there is a suit of armor that no one knows about. Similar to Clark these very expensive armored cars that look like just every other car driving down the road but have hidden armor underneath it’s stock exterior.. It takes highly skilled workers to accomplish this daunting task.

Brand new cars will be stripped to the frame and transformed using ballistic material will be installed depending on the level of protection the customer needs. Next, they will install very expensive hurricane /bullet proof glass in these vehicles which is no easy task. Windows can be up to three inches thick for maximum protection. If you ponder that thought for a moment, and think about replacing the standard window with those incredibly thick heavy widows while making it all fit perfectly inside the door keeping an original fit and finish on the car as it came from the factory. Yes, these guys and gals are good that do this very technically and demanding work on these armored cars

Unfortunately, there is only one Superman and my guess is he keeps a pretty close watch on that suit of his, so I guess for the rest of us mortals, we will have to protect ourselves with armored cars. Of course there are only a select few that really need this kind of protection some being, High Government Officials like the President, Diplomat’s, Oil Sheik’s and maybe a Rock star or two and as always Mr. James Bond. Armored cars are very expensive to build and will generally take four to six weeks to complete.

For those who have to pay for their own armored cars, you better dig way down deep in those pockets to pay for it, or you could possibly get elected President, or discover an oil well, maybe write a hit song or two or be a Super spy like James Bond and get all your armored cars for free..No matter how you get them, armored cars are very protective and, very cool.
